Back in the sixties you weren't a real hippie unless you had a guru and a mantra, that is, a phrase or chain of syllables that you repeated over and over to help calm the mind and awaken the spirit. Those of us who were into it would regularly congregate in Golden Gate Park to chant together and share the insights we received. Few of us knew much about the history or power of mantras back during The Summer of Love but my own experience seemed authentic enough that I have continued to chant my personal mantra regularly ever since.
The word "mantra" is derived from two Sanskrit words meaning "mind" or "man" and "protect" or "free". Together they loosely translate to "energy which frees and protects man's mind." Saying a mantra creates a sound which focuses energy and allows it to travel like a shooting star past all the distractions and temptations of the physical world until it reaches our crown chakra, the highest energy center in the body, which is located at the top of the head. When energy, or light, reaches this highest level we become as one with the source of all creation. It's as if we've finally climbed out of a cloud of confusion and now we experience a sense of clarity and direction. Occasionally this experience is so strong we feel as though we have been touched by the divine and call it "Enlightenment" but more often a person will simply feel better - as if they can now think straight.
Would you like to experience the revitalizing and healing effects of a mantra? There are many to choose from. Some are specially designed to create very specific results. People have successfully chanted for love, for money and for improvement in all life situations. You can call me for a mantra or you can simply go to youtube.
The important thing in saying a mantra is first and always that you be clear about your intention, what it is you are chanting for. Next it is important to pronounce the words correctly. This is where finding a mantra on youtube can be so helpful. You can chant right along with a master.
Saying a word produces a vibration, repeating it over and over multiplies the effect. The vibration resonates - connects with - everything that is vibrating on the same wave length and before long you will notice new energy patterns forming around you replacing all the old energy patterns and new interests and new people will then manifest while old interests just fade away. To what degree you experience this depends not so much on your belief - if you make these sounds, the vibration will manifest whether you believe it will or not - but on your willingness to stop repeating the old words, the old sounds that created the lack and confusion. Chanting "Om" will attract miracles but if you then go back to grumbling you'll be back to attracting a grumbly world! When you begin using mantras you become very aware of how every word we speak is creating and reinforcing the conditions of our lives. "Love" attracts love. "Hate" attracts...well, you know...

My favorite all purpose mantra is "Nam Myho Ringay Kyo". These four words form a Buddhist mantra and can be used to transform any earthly condition. Try saying them sometime whether you're wanting to attract a parking space or bring about world peace. The results are sure to be amazing.
Namaste - "I salute the divinity within you".
